Definitions

Section 68KA establishes the key terminology used throughout the provisions governing jobseeker's pay-related benefit.

  • An "applicable period" is a continuous stretch of consecutive qualifying weeks during which a person may receive benefit.
  • The precise definition of an "applicable week" is set out separately in section 68KB(1) of the Act.
  • The "relevant date" determines when these provisions take effect for each individual claimant.
  • The relevant date is whichever comes later: either when the Minister makes the necessary regulations, or a specific commencement date prescribed within those regulations.
