Disqualification

Section 106 imposes a six-week disqualification period for carer's benefit where a person stops being entitled after receiving the benefit for less than six weeks.

  • Applies when someone has been receiving carer's benefit for fewer than six weeks
  • Triggered when the carer ceases to qualify for the benefit
  • Prevents the person from claiming carer's benefit again for the same care recipient
  • The disqualification runs for six weeks from the last day of entitlement
