Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005 section 294

Regulations in relation to benefit or assistance

Section 294 gives the Minister broad power to make regulations relating to any social welfare benefit, including the ability to apply or adapt existing provisions of the Act.

  • The Minister may make regulations in relation to any benefit under the Act.
  • Regulations may directly apply any existing provisions of the Act, either as they stand or with modifications.
  • Alternatively, regulations may create new provisions that correspond to existing ones, again with or without modification.
  • This gives the Minister flexible rule-making authority to tailor benefit administration to specific circumstances without requiring primary legislation.
