Free certificates

Section 280 provides for the Minister to arrange free medical certificates and confinement certificates for the purposes of social insurance and social assistance claims.

• The Minister may arrange for medical certificates or certificates of expected or actual confinement to be issued free of charge.
• These certificates support claims under Part 2 (Social Insurance) or Part 3 (Social Assistance) of the Act.
• The expenses of providing this service must not exceed amounts agreed between the Minister and the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform.
• The spending limit may be revised from time to time by agreement between the two Ministers.
