Interpretation

Section 1087A defines the key terms used throughout this Chapter, which deals with securities held through central securities depositories by public limited companies.

  • A central securities depository (CSD) is one authorised under the EU CSD Regulation to perform services in the State.
  • A relevant issuer is a public limited company that has issued securities classified as relevant securities.
  • Relevant securities are securities issued by a relevant issuer and registered in the name of a CSD or a body nominated by a CSD to hold securities in its settlement system.
  • The securities settlement system takes its meaning from the EU CSD Regulation (Regulation (EU) No 909/2014).
