Companies Act 2014 section 1282

Application of Chapters 1, 2 and 4 of Part 23 to PUCs and PULCs

Section 1282 extends certain company law provisions β€” specifically those in Chapters 1, 2 and 4 of Part 23 β€” to public unlimited companies (PUCs) and public unlimited companies with a share capital (PULCs), to the extent that those provisions apply to companies other than public limited companies (PLCs).

  • Chapters 1, 2 and 4 of Part 23 contain rules applicable to various company types other than public limited companies.
  • This section confirms that those rules also apply to public unlimited companies (PUCs) and public unlimited companies with a share capital (PULCs).
  • The provisions only apply to PUCs and PULCs to the extent they are relevant to companies other than PLCs β€” PLC-specific rules do not carry across.
  • The effect is to ensure PUCs and PULCs are subject to the same regulatory framework as other non-PLC company types under these chapters.
