Company to carry on activity in the State and prohibition of certain activities

Section 18 deals with the Minister's power to extend the transition period where difficulties arise in implementing provisions of the Act, and the parliamentary approval process required for any such extension.

  • The Minister may extend the transition period if difficulties arise in operating provisions of the Act
  • The extension allows affected parties additional time to complete necessary actions or procedures
  • The extended period must not exceed 30 months in total
  • Any proposed extension order must be laid before and approved by both Houses of the Oireachtas before it can take effect
