Application of section 1554 to certain information

Section 1558 extends the confidentiality requirements of section 1554 to information received through cross-border cooperation and information exchange with other EU Member States.

  • The confidentiality rules in section 1554 apply to information received through cooperation with authorities in other EU Member States
  • The bodies covered include the Supervisory Authority (IAASA), recognised accountancy bodies, and the Registrar of Companies
  • The information protected is that obtained through the cooperation and exchange arrangements required under this chapter of the Act
  • This ensures that information shared between Member State authorities receives the same confidentiality protection as domestically gathered information
