Functions of Review Group

Section 959 sets out the functions of the Company Law Review Group, which is to monitor, review, and advise the Minister on all aspects of company law, with a focus on promoting enterprise, facilitating commerce, simplifying the Act, and enhancing corporate governance.

  • The Review Group monitors, reviews, and advises the Minister on the implementation, amendment, and consolidation of the Companies Act 2014
  • Its remit extends to new company legislation, court rules and judgments, EU membership issues, and international developments in company law
  • The Minister may also submit other related matters or issues to the Review Group for consideration
  • In all its advisory work, the Review Group must seek to promote enterprise, facilitate commerce, simplify the Act's operation, enhance corporate governance, and encourage commercial probity
