Application of Irish market abuse law to certain markets

Section 1371 enables the Minister to extend Irish market abuse law to additional markets by provisional order, subject to confirmation by the Oireachtas.

  • The Minister may, after consulting the designated competent authority, make a provisional order applying Irish market abuse law to a specified market covered by the Market Abuse Regulation
  • The provisional order may include modifications to how the law applies to the specified market
  • The Minister may amend or revoke any provisional order under this section by making a further provisional order
  • No provisional order takes effect unless and until it is confirmed by an Act of the Oireachtas
