Companies Act 2014 section 1322

Change of name for purposes of registration

Section 1322 deals with the procedure for changing a body's name when the Registrar considers the existing name undesirable for the purposes of registration under this Chapter.

  • If the Registrar considers a body's name undesirable, the body cannot be registered under that name
  • The body may change its name with the Registrar's written approval, effective from the date of registration
  • The members of the body must consent to the name change, in the same manner as consent is required for registration itself under section 1316
  • Both the Registrar's approval and the members' agreement are necessary before a name change can proceed
