Qualification of company as large company

Section 280H establishes the default classification of a company as a large company where it does not qualify under any of the smaller size categories.

  • A company that does not meet the criteria for small, micro, or medium classification is automatically deemed to be a large company.
  • Small company qualification is determined under sections 280A and 280B (the latter applying to holding companies).
  • Micro company qualification is determined under section 280D, and medium company qualification under sections 280F and 280G.
  • Large company status carries the fullest financial reporting and audit obligations under the Companies Act 2014.
