Regulations and orders

Section 12 deals with the Minister's power to make regulations and orders under the Companies Act 2014, the exceptions to that power, and the parliamentary oversight process that applies to such regulations and orders.

• The Minister has a general power to make regulations prescribing anything referred to in the Act as prescribed or to be prescribed.
• This power does not extend to matters that Part 11 or Part 15 of the Act assigns to another authority.
• Most regulations and orders made by the Minister must be laid before both Houses of the Oireachtas as soon as practicable after they are made.
• Either House may annul a regulation or order by resolution within 21 sitting days, but any actions already taken under it before annulment remain valid.
