Regulations (Chapter 2)

Section 1366 empowers the Minister to make regulations for the purpose of implementing EU market abuse legislation, including the Market Abuse Directive and the Market Abuse Regulation, along with any supplemental directives.

  • The Minister may make regulations under the Companies Act 2014 to give effect to EU market abuse rules.
  • The regulations cover the implementation of the EU Market Abuse Directive (2003/6/EC) and its supplemental directives.
  • They also cover the Market Abuse Regulation (S.I. 342/2005), which sets out detailed rules on preventing market abuse.
  • This provision originally derives from section 30 of the Investment Funds, Companies and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2005.
