Companies Act 2014 section 957C

Sanctions which Director may impose on relevant director for certain conduct

Section 957C provided for sanctions that the Director of Corporate Enforcement could impose on a relevant director for certain conduct, but this section has been repealed.

  • This section was introduced by the Companies (Statutory Audits) Act 2018 to empower the Director of Corporate Enforcement to impose sanctions on relevant directors for specified conduct.
  • The section set out the framework under which such sanctions could be applied, including the types of conduct that could trigger enforcement action.
  • The provision formed part of the broader statutory audit enforcement regime designed to uphold standards of corporate governance and director accountability.
  • Section 957C was subsequently repealed in its entirety by the Companies (Corporate Enforcement Authority) Act 2021, reflecting the transfer of functions from the Director of Corporate Enforcement to the newly established Corporate Enforcement Authority.
