Admissibility of certified copy or extract

Section 892 deals with the admissibility of certified copies or extracts of documents held by the Registrar of Companies as evidence in legal proceedings.

  • A certified copy or extract of any document registered with the Registrar is admissible as evidence in all legal proceedings.
  • Such a copy carries the same evidential weight as the original document, provided it is certified as a true copy.
  • The certification must be signed by the Registrar, an assistant registrar, or another officer authorised by the Minister.
  • There is no requirement to prove the official position of the person who signed the certification.
