Offence of obstructing, interfering with or impeding officer of Authority

Section 793A creates a criminal offence for anyone who obstructs, interferes with, or impedes an officer of the Authority in the exercise of powers conferred under the Act.

  • It is a category 2 offence to obstruct or interfere with an officer of the Authority exercising statutory powers
  • The offence also covers impeding an officer from exercising such powers
  • The provision applies to any person, not just company directors or officers
  • Category 2 offences carry significant penalties, which may include substantial fines and/or imprisonment
