Prior approval by Houses of Oireachtas required for certain regulations

Section 944 requires that certain regulations made under the Companies Act 2014 must receive prior approval from both Houses of the Oireachtas before they can come into effect.

  • Regulations prescribing accountancy bodies for the definition of "prescribed accountancy body" require prior parliamentary approval.
  • Certain regulations made under section 943(1) relating to the Irish Auditing and Accounting Supervisory Authority also require prior approval.
  • A draft of any such proposed regulation must be laid before both the Dáil and the Seanad.
  • The regulation cannot be made until a resolution approving the draft has been passed by each House.
