Inspection and production of documents kept by Registrar

Section 891 sets out how the public can access and inspect documents held by the Registrar of Companies, and how the Registrar shares company information through the European system of interconnected company registers.

• Any person may, on payment of a prescribed fee, inspect documents held by the Registrar, request a certified certificate of incorporation, or obtain certified copies or extracts of other documents
• The Registrar may also enter into agreements allowing persons to use, publish and distribute registered documents and data derived from them to third parties, on payment of a prescribed fee
• Each company must be assigned a unique identifier for communication between interconnected European registers, and the Registrar must make electronic copies of key company documents and details available through that system
• Basic company information — name, legal form, registered office address and registration number — must be available free of charge through the interconnected register system
