Companies Act 2014 section 753

Duty of company officer or agent to produce books or documents and give assistance

Section 753 sets out the obligations of company officers and agents to cooperate with a court-appointed inspector by producing books and documents and providing assistance during an investigation.

• Officers and agents of a company under investigation must hand over all books and documents in their possession or control to the inspector
• They must attend before the inspector whenever required to do so
• They must provide all reasonable assistance to the inspector in connection with the investigation
• Producing a book or document does not affect any lien (legal claim) the person may have over that book or document
