Terms and conditions of appointment

Section 946 sets out the terms and conditions governing the appointment of the Director of Corporate Enforcement, including the length of office and the process for renewal of appointment.

  • The Director of Corporate Enforcement holds office for a maximum term of five years.
  • The appointment may be renewed after the initial term for further periods, each of no more than five years.
  • Renewal is at the discretion of the Minister and requires the consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform.
  • This section has been repealed by the Companies (Corporate Enforcement Authority) Act 2021, which replaced the office with the Corporate Enforcement Authority.
