Superannuation of Members

Section 944L provides for the establishment of pension schemes for Members of the Corporate Enforcement Authority, setting out how such schemes are created, amended, disputed and subject to parliamentary oversight.

  • The Minister may, with the consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, create pension schemes for Members of the Authority who are not civil servants
  • Each scheme must set out retirement terms and conditions, which may differ for different classes of person, and schemes may be amended or revoked by a subsequent scheme
  • Pension benefits may only be granted in accordance with an approved scheme or with the specific consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform
  • Disputes about entitlement or amounts are referred to the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, whose decision is final, and all schemes must be laid before the Oireachtas with a 21-day annulment window
