Companies Act 2014 section 4

Repeals and revocations

Section 4 deals with the repeal of older company law Acts and the revocation of related statutory instruments, clearing away the previous legislative framework that the Companies Act 2014 replaced.

  • Older Acts of the Oireachtas listed in Part 1 of Schedule 2 are repealed to the extent specified in that schedule.
  • Statutory instruments listed in Part 2 of Schedule 2 are revoked to the extent specified in that schedule.
  • These repeals and revocations operate alongside separate provisions in section 1325 and Schedule 15 dealing with unregistered companies becoming registered.
  • The overall effect is to replace the former patchwork of company legislation with the single consolidated Companies Act 2014.
