Companies Act 2014 section 814

Court may impose restrictions on publication of information provided

Section 814 deals with the court's power to restrict how information obtained through a disclosure order may be published or shared.

  • Where information is provided to an applicant or a company under a disclosure order (section 813(3)), the court may control how that information is used.
  • The court has broad discretion to impose whatever restrictions on publication it considers appropriate.
  • The restrictions apply to the person who received the information, limiting how they may share or publicise it.
  • This provision safeguards against the unrestricted dissemination of potentially sensitive information obtained through court-ordered disclosure.
