Meetings directed by the court

Section 689 sets out the rules governing meetings that are held during a court-ordered winding up, where those meetings take place at the direction of the court.

  • The section applies only to meetings in a court-ordered winding up that are held at the court's direction, and is subject to any specific directions the court may give.
  • The court may direct that notice of a meeting be given by advertisement, in which case the purpose of the meeting need not be stated in the advertisement.
  • A certified copy of the court order appointing a chairperson is sufficient authority for that person to preside over the meeting.
  • The chairperson must report the outcome of the meeting in whatever form the court directs.
