Companies Act 2014 section 909

Chief executive officer (including provision of transitional nature)

Section 909 deals with the appointment, terms of office, and removal of the chief executive officer of the Irish Auditing and Accounting Supervisory Authority, and includes a transitional provision for the person already holding that role when the section came into force.

  • The board of directors of the Supervisory Authority is responsible for appointing a chief executive officer to manage and control the administration and business of the Authority and to carry out any other functions the board assigns.
  • The chief executive officer's terms and conditions, including pay and allowances, must be approved by the Minister, with the consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform.
  • The board may remove the chief executive officer from office at any time.
  • The person who held the role of chief executive officer immediately before this section commenced continues in office for the remainder of their term, unless they retire, resign, die, or are removed sooner.
