Delivery to Registrar of documents in legible form

Section 896 sets out the requirements that must be met when delivering documents in legible (readable) form to the Registrar of Companies.

  • Any document delivered to the Registrar in legible form must prominently display the registered number of the company to which it relates.
  • Documents must comply with any regulations that prescribe their form, contents, and requirements enabling the Registrar to copy them.
  • Different classes of document may be subject to different prescribed requirements regarding form and content.
  • The term "document" is broadly defined to include any periodic account, abstract, statement, or return.
