Companies Act 2014 section 1310

Service of documents

Section 1310 sets out the rules for how documents may be validly served on external companies that have registered a branch in the State.

  • Documents are sufficiently served if sent to the person notified to the Registrar as authorised to accept service, at the address provided
  • If no authorised person has been notified, or if that person is deceased, no longer resident, refuses service, or cannot be reached, documents may instead be left at or posted to any Irish branch of the external company
  • These service rules cease to apply two years after the external company gives notice that it has closed its branch in the State
  • Where changes to the authorised person or their details have been notified to the Registrar, the service rules apply based on the updated information
